pause - breathe in - breathe out
Good morning all you lovely people!π Today I have to make up my post. It's already Thursday (day 6) but I had been so tired yesterday that I couldn't manage to write down the day's events. It might be the salty air, the sea and / or the fact that I'm finally here. Anyway, we decided to have a good relaxed breakfast and start yesterday's day slowly.
It had been a cloudy day until we decided in the afternoon to drive up to north again. Our first stop was at a stall along the street shortly after Kawela Bay. We had seen that stall already on our first drive up to north and because I love coconuts we had to stop this time. We couldn't ignore any longer the sign "Ice cold coconuts"π₯₯. Moreover you could buy fresh pineapplesπ and papayas. The guy behind the counter grapped into a big cooling box and pulled out a big green coconut which he openend with a machete. With 3 blows he beheaded the coconut and gave it to us with a drinking straw. With my first sip I thought 'Oh, heavenly!' π
If you never tasted fresh coconut water you need to know you can't compare it with what we can buy in cans. Fresh is always better but frankly speaking I didn't expected that difference in taste. Not enough with that the man also gave us a papaya cut in half with spoons. I guess it looked kind of funny... my honey holding the large coconut with both of his hands and me feeding him with fresh momona (Hawaiian word for sweet and juicy) papaya. π
Our next stop had been at Waimea Bay. We drove into Waimea Valley up to the botanical garden. You can hike a trail that leads you to Waimea Falls. Because we had been already quite late we decided to come back at that place. You haven't been in Hawai'i if don't manage to see some of those many water falls on the islands!π
We continued our way for a while, turning at Kawailoa Ranch. Back on the way to Ka'a'awa we stopped at Waimea Bay Beach Park and had a look at the beach. All those countless wonderful beaches on this island!π
Finally back at our holiday home the weather went down again. My darling had another special job to do.π We took the coconut we had bought with us and now it was his job to free the coconut from its green shell. A man's job, right?π I knew he would do it with flying colors. He asked our host for any tool for this and guess what he got? A machete!π It was a little mean pleasure for me to watch him from the Lanai.π
But as already said I knew he wouldn't fail or let me down.π He's simply the best and when I'm honest with myself he deserves a medal for what he has already gone through with me. Especially in the last 22 months. Honey, believe me, I really appreciate your patience with me!πππ

Finally, I would like to show you some shots of the fruits in the garden of our hosts. ππ₯₯ It's still amazing to me having bananas and coconuts on trees around me!ππ
Aloha! π΄πΊπ
